I love Argentina. I love the people of Argentina.
I love the logic of the country as it is so wonderful and unlogical.

The Obelisk

Do you know the Obelisk in Buenos Aires?

The national monument and icon of the city. It was built in 1936 and designed by Alberto Prebish at the request of the mayor.
Its height is 67.5 meters.

It is the place every Argentine wished they could have gone to when Argentina won the World Cup for the third time in 2022. The news said 5 million people did make it to or near the Obelisk. In fact, so many people came that they had to give up on driving the football players to the place to be celebrated.

The people wanted to salute them, but there were so many that the bus with the football players could not get through and had to give up—the players were flying over the crowd in a helicopter.

And why is the obelisk there? There was no reason other than the city wanted it there.
It has no meaning. It is not related to anything historic or important for the city or the country.
So they call it Obelisco de Buenos Aires.
